Well, after repeated inspections of our LC(A) storage area [Harpo's basement] we have discovered that the everything is gone. Our prime suspect – Lyle.

Now Lyle is a founding member of the LC(A) and held a quarter of the stake in our physical assets. Before heading off to college Lyle came by to pick up his LEGOS®. We had given him consent to do so but neither of us were there to navigate him through the process. Might he have simply taken them all?

Harpo and I have been joined by our friend Benny to petition Lyle. Where did the LEGOS® go? Harpo wrote the following on Lyle’s Facebook Wall and anxiously anticipate a response:

So Will Szal, Benny Docter, and I went down to my basement, and guess what? No Legos! Any idea where those might have gone, Mr. I-need-my-childhood-toys-back-before-I-can-go-to-college? Or do we need to come pay you a little visit up in Goucher-land?
Also, how’re things in general?

I’ve installed the WordPress Tipjoy plugin. This allows users to easily donate to the LC(A) via Tipjoy, a Twitter-integrated service. It’s pretty cool. Hopefully this will allow people to donate money easily in an affordable amount (currently 25 cents).

iPod Linux

We did some more work on the iPod. We took more photos, and Will has added them to the Facebook gallery. We’ve also decided to install iPod Linux on the finalized product, and, if we can sell it on eBay, to go into production.

The Legal Conglomerate of Awesomeness just received its first credit card offer. American Express feels that our business needs to go with their Plum Card®.

We had curry for lunch, and decided to go with spicing it from scratch, going the working-class route instead of sticking with capitalist ways. It turns out that you standard Hot Curry Powder from a place like Penzeys has fourteen different spices in it.

Also Google has this cool thing that I saw advertized while writing this post, the GSoC.

Facebook

Will has created an LC(A) Facebook page. If you have Facebook, I would strongly encourage you to check the page out. I don’t really know what it can do, but it seems pretty interesting. There appears to be some sort of mechanism for creating advertisements to promote a page. I am not yet sure if this will cost money. If it doesn’t, I think we will do it.

In news completely unrelated to the LC(A), except for the Awesomeness part, we are doing some pretty cool stuff to an iPod Mini. We are removing the colored finish (green), and will be beefing up the innards with 32GB of Flash memory (replacing the old 4GB Hitachi microdrive) and a replacement battery. We took photos of the wire brushing process. This is all occurring at The Farm School, where I am staying for the weekend.

The LC(A) Twitter account is growing in followers.

In an attempt to make the “donate” button on carofawesomeness.com more exciting, we made it in Polish. Unfortunately, this also turns the donate page Polish. So it is back to boring English.

You might ask, “What will these young fellows do with my money?” Well, we have many plans, such as pneumatics and an upgrade to the NXT.

Endeavor

We are rebuilding the central chassis frame to accommodate the new gearing systems at either end. This is quite a job; we have completely disassembled it and are putting it back together from the ends in.
We started working before eating some leftover pancakes (with Trader Joe’s Organic Concord Grape Jelly and molasses, as we are out of maple syrup). We are now taking a break to eat some mushroom barley soup before continuing.

Back in Action

After a lull from the LC(A) while I was farming in Italy, Harpo and I are back together. We are doing a bit of maintenance on my MacBook Pro and Harpo is working with Hannah on a duet for a competition for a bit. We should also probably get going on Multivariable Calc and Calc based Physics again. And Harpo seems interested talking about economics a bit. But despite all of these distractions, I think that we will be able to manage a bit of progress on the Car.

Money

It is now possible to donate to the LC(A) directly and securely using PayPal. Use the button in the sidebar on any page.

If we can raise enough money this way, Will and I will probably file as a 501c(3) nonprofit organization (the Legal Conglomerate of Awesomeness [or LC(A) for short]), making all further donations tax-deductible. So, if you donate some $s now, you could save a whole bunch in the future.

We will use the money to buy Lego parts that we need, maintain this site, buy software, etc. Money will be kept strictly separate from our personal finances, and will be used only for charges pertaining to the LC(A) project. If you have a specific thing that you want your money to go to, there is a place to indicate that when donating, and we will respect it.

Wikipedia

As Harpo and I use Wikipedia so much, it would only make sense for there to be an LC(A) article up on it. Recently I have been looking into Wiki policies, and prospects are not the best. It seems that we need a little more in terms of credentials, and someone else should probably write the article. So far, the only three sources about the LC(A) that we of are my, Harpo’s, and the LC(A)’s site. It could be argued that these sources are biased.
